There is still so much confusion of men primarily when it comes to muscle building hormones for bodybuilding.

First and for most let’s remember, hormones are agents which drive muscle development. In general, athletes classify hormones as good (anabolic) or bad (catabolic) . Anabolic growth hormones, stimulate rebuilding  and repair reactions, in the muscle. Catabolic hormones stimulate the breakdown of carbohydrate, fat, and even protein for energy. We will concentrate on Anabolic growth hormones  but study our catabolic ones as well for the sake of my story.

The purpose of this article, is to teach you how to stimulate the release of anabolic growwth hormones to maximize muscle development.

Hormones are released in response to 3 stimuli to maximize muscle development:

1-Other hormones

2-Stimulation of nerve fibers,(which is expected during exercise), and also

3-Changes in the levels of certain nutrients in the blood.

Catabolic Hormones. How They Are Affecting You:

Epinephrine/Adrenaline and Norepinephrine (Noradrenaline)

Epinephrine is released from the adrenal glands in response to low levels of blood glucose, as well as by the stimulation of resistance exercise. Norepinehrine is primarily released from nerve endings in blood vessels in response to exercise–the higher the intensity, the greater the increase.

Both hormones promote the breakdown of liver glycogen to glucose and its release into the blood, increase the breakdown of fat and increase blood flow to the muscle. Epinephrine also stimulates muscle glycogen breakdown. Epinephrine and norepeniphrine also have multiple psychological effects, including increase respiration and heart rate. Both hormones are elevated during exercise as the body attempts to get more blood to the working muscles and to increase the breakdown of glycogen and fat for energy.

Cortisol is well known by strength athletes. To avoid high cortisol, you first need to understand how this hormone works. This hormone is release from the adrenal glands when blood glucose is low and during very intense exercise such as weight lifting. Cortisol major function is to generate fuel for working muscles. Anabolic hormones:

At the other end of the spectrum, anabolic hormones are involved in the rebuilding and replenishment process of the muscle cell. The anabolic hormones I will discussed here will be 2; for the sake of my story: 1GF1 and insulin since are the most overlooked, and underappreciated  anabolic hormones.

1GF1:

1GF1, stands for insulin-like-growth factor. It is released from a variety of hormones, including the pituitary gland, the muscles and the liver. However, is true that high levels of insulin combined with high carbohydrate intake, have been shown to increase fat synthesis and decrease fat breakdown. Chronic elevation of blood insulin levels maintained over many years with the resulting accumulation of body fat is associated with type 2 diabetes.

While is true that high levels of insulin promotes fat synthesis, they don’t necessarily do so to the same degree, in all circumstances. Insulin is just as effective in promoting carbohydrate fuel storage and muscle protein synthesis at any given time depends, on certain aspects of the individual’s  body state. Perhaps the most important factor is the relative degree of insulin sensitivity, in fat cells versus muscles cells. The more insulin sensitive fat cells are, at a given time, the more insulin will act, to promote fat storage. The more insulin sensitive muscle cells  are a t a given time, the more insulin will act, to promote muscle glycogen, storage and protein synthesis.

If you are looking for muscle growth and development, you need to understand  that muscle cells are especially insulin sensitive after exercise. If glucose and amino acids are made available at this time, insulin will help synthesize muscle proteins and muscle glycogen at a rapid rate, and very little fat will be synthesized and protein adipose fat tissue.

Lifestyle factors can increase the insulin sensitivity of the muscles cells and thereby create a body that is generally disposed to build muscle proteins and less disposed to store body fat. Exercise and a moderate carbohydrate diet that is rich in fiber can increase muscle insulin sensitivity. Alternatively, a low carbohydrate, high fat  diet can decrease insulin sensitivity, which, as you will soon see, can have negative effects on muscle mass and strength.

Because of its many actions insulin has earned the title “anabolic regulator of muscle”. In fact insulin may be the most important hormone, to increase muscle strength and mass, insulin should be the heart of any nutritional muscle building plan as the main “anabolic regulator of muscle”.

Insulin is released from the pancreas usually in response to high levels of blood glucose. Most people are familiar with the fact that insulin increases the transport of glucose, in the muscle cell, but usually plays many other rolls in our system. For example:

Insulin has a number of actions that increase protein synthesis. Insulin stimulates RNA and DNA, thereby increasing the enzymes responsible for protein synthesis. This effects tend to be short-lived, however. One reason is that when cortisol released is block, for a period of time, higher levels of cortisol are produced thereafter. Thus, when an athlete stops taken an anabolic steroid, the catabolic effects of cortisol are enhanced. While muscle strength and size are lost at a rapid rate.

For this reason, the most important part of any athlete looking to enhance their performance, or man looking to stay active while recovering faster and building blocks of muscle continuously.
